Levels#

Leveling is not a complicated thing in Plains of Sedia. It takes just long enough to learn and incorporate the new skills recently gained before leveling up and continuing on in most occasions. There are 100 core levels, 100 being the level where all skills are now available. In the PLOS video game there are, however, levels beyond 100 called heroic levels. In order to gain access to the highest citizenship ranks some degree of these levels must be attained. An example would be the last attainable citizenship rank Emperor which requires the player to have achieved 500 levels, 100 of the core, and then 400 heroic levels. These levels are mostly just a status symbol and nothing more except the possibility of upgrading stats each heroic level until the stats reach their cap, or maximum value. To achieve each level the player must gain 1000 experience, Such that level 13 a total of 13000 experience points must be gained from starting you character. Every time the player levels he or she receives a training point. In PLOS Training points may be spent on any of the core stats, health, willpower, or stamina until they reach their cap. The cap for health, willpower, and stamina power in case of PLOS are located in the player’s class description which is explained in later chapters. The core stats are Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and Luck. There is a maximum to the total each core stat can be raised to. Because each race has their own starting stats, the core stats plus five are the maximum amount that they can be increased with training points with two exceptions. There are for each player two stats that can be increased more than five determined by that player’s class: their Skill Stat and their Support Stat. Each class in the class section describes which stat is their Skill stat and Support Stat. The Skill Stat increases the maximum of the core stat by five, and the Support Stat increases the maximum of the core stat by three. For example if a human is a priest his default stats start at 10 with a maximum of 15 except for charisma which whose maximum is 20 and intelligence whose maximum is 18. Generally most users will have maxed their stat increases before level 100 and will only be able to increase their health, willpower, or stamina until they reach their cap as well. One training point increases the health, willpower, and stamina maximums by 2. Each class has a different maximum amount for health, willpower, and stamina. You still receive training points for heroic levels. Once all statistics are capped you can convert your trains into practice points or money which will be described soon. Also every level the player receives (their wisdom total - 10)/2 in practice points. Practice points are used to increase the efficiency in skill usage. Each skill once it’s first attained has a 1% chance of working. Each practice point will increase that percentage by the user’s intelligence to a maximum of 75%. When the character uses the skill and fails, they gain 1% to the efficiency. Practice points may be converted from 10 points to 1 training point; likewise one training point can be converted into 10 practice points. Because of this there will be times when a user won’t need practice points and can use that opportunity to increase one of their core stats, or basic stat points. Alternatively you can convert your practice or training points into money. Once reaching the heroic level 1 training point may be traded for 5 Sovern. In role-play, trading your training points for money is merely another way of expressing that the hero taught instead of learning and was paid for his duties. The way the leveling system works allows for strategic leveling types. If one would increase their intelligence first to its maximum they would gain more benefits from their practice points straight away increasing the total free practice points they will have early in the game, in effect increasing their core stats by practice point conversion. Alternatively one might increase their wisdom first so they have a greater amount of practice point’s period every time they level. One might not even use their practice points at all until their intelligence is increased to its max, or in some rare cases they may still not use practice points and fail in battle continuously but in affect saving their practice points and becoming a much stronger character very quickly in the game. The choices of strategic leveling allow for a better customized character.
