Tailoring#
The most basic process of tailoring is gathering of fiber, spinning of fiber into yarn and then knitting that yarn into a tailoring design. More sophisticated processing of tailoring uses textiles. In that process the fiber is spun into thread, which is sewn with a loom and shuttle and specific weave type into a textile. That textile is subsequently cut and sewn into the specific tailoring pattern. Cloth equipment can be salvaged into either tatters, patches or yarn if it was a knitted design.

Weave Types#
| Name | Description |
|---|
| plain weave | warp and weft are aligned so they perform a crisscross pattern. each weft crosses the warp threads by going over one and then under the next, and so on. also known as the tabby or taffeta weave. |
| basket weave | variation of plain weave in which two or more threads are bundled and then woven as one in the warp, weft or both. |
| double weave | where two or more sets of warps and more sets of weft interconnect to form two layered cloths. Usually has complex patterns. |
| pile weave | woven over metal rods or wires that are inserted in the shed during weaving. |
| satin weave | consists of four or more weft yarns floating over a warp yarn or vice versa. this creates a lustrous appearance. |
| twill | made by passing weft threads over one warp thread and then under two or more warp threads, over one, then again under two. usually made by offsets, creating steps. |
| pressed fibers | there is no weave, it is simply fibers pressed together in a matted state. |
